Long time, no real post. So I've decided to do a little longer one.
Yeah, I dig bands with more than one vocalist. That's what makes QOTSA's Song for the Deaf special for me: three different vocals. You had Nick's howling, Josh's falsetto and Mark's deep, beautiful, sad singing. Sonic diversity.
And now I have Blonde Redhead, two vocalists. Very strange music, btw, but great. The female vocals are sorta mellow and sweet, the male voice is desperate (and a bit feminine).

Okay, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm a total PJ Harvey fan now. Awwwwwwwww... I bought Is This Desire? a few days ago and maybe it's her best stuff (imho)...

We saw a very good comics exhibition, Troyan Rabbits. It was funny, yey.
Then we went to a film called Brick (imdb). Hmm. I have to see it again, to understand all the little details. It was quite complicated, and now I think I understand it... but... Not sure. Good good film.
And I was called or believed girl 3 times. First, the cinema-cashier. Then, a man with an accordion asked what time it was. Third, when we were heading back on the metro, a drunk law-student. That last one was utterly funny (btw, it made me discover that I'm not a very attractive girl).

Album review time!

Brendan Benson – Alternative to Love
I had both great and small expectations towards this album. One word (and an article): The Raconteurs. That band is great and 40% of it is sorta Brendan Benson. Alternative to Love is not his first solo-album, and all the other reviews say it’s not as good as the old ones (as always), but I’m nearly satisfied with it. A nice pop-record, with catchy songs. Alternative to Love, Cold Hands Warm Heart, Between Us… Great tracks. There are some weaker ones, though. Pledge of Allegiance, for example, is too… Maybe too steretypical. Even for a pop song. Anyway, I’m hooked on this album, it’s a rather pleasent one.

Concert review stuff.
Brainstorm was great yesterday. Of course, there was a crowd and the three biggest guys were standing before us, and my view was blocked by an ass. Seriously. There was a pillar near us, with a bench around it. People stood up there, and a girl was literally leaning over the crowd and taking photos. A guy was holding her back so that she didn't fall off... Okay, but when she decided it was time for a smoke... Ashes in your face, not a good thing.
But the band.. Yeyy! They were a bit late (20 minutes, maybe. We had to listen to the last RHCP record, Stadium Arcadium... Quite boring, apart from a few tracks.), but I couldn't care less. They opened with Thunder Without Rain, then Tin Drums and Tonight We'll Dance (one of my favourites). They played a partially acousitc version of Leavin To LA, some older songs, and, yeyy, they played some more favourite songs of mine (Digitally Bright!!). I prefer the new album btw, the old stuff is too soviet-popish sometimes. Whatever. They did Ветер, and of course the Russian audience raged. Just as during Ты Не Один (first song in the encore) and Выходные. Don't like Выходные much, but the other two Russian songs are great. They finished with old songs.
And amazingly, the sound was pretty good.

Yesterday I wanted to blog about my bad habits, but the blogger server was kinda down, so I postponed it. Maybe some other time. Now I'll just live out on of my habits: MUSIC TALK!
The Microphones - They are labelled everything from noise-folk to fuzz-pop... Yeah. Genres are funny things to play with. You can invent two new ones for every band. Not to mention the various cross-overs. The Microphones make good music, that's what counts. Yeah, you get noise indeed, and folkish/popish guitars too, along with mellowy vocals, so the labels might be true... Yeah. Okay. Try 'em somehow.
Olivia Tremor Control, The Apples In Stereo - Two good bands. They have a wee bit of experimentalism in their music. They are similar in some aspects, they fuse pop-rock with exp. stuff and some strange sounds.
Elf Power - It was the name that intrigued me first (: Elf Power, mmmmm. Got myself an album (Back To The Web), and fell under its influence. Peaceful stuff.

And to make you all happy, I stop talking about music!! Even though I could tell you about all the new stuff I got today.

Been to museum today, the old Tretyakov Gallery. Icons and stuff, ancient slavian art. Quite interesting, but I got fed up after the hundredth piece introducing me to the adventurous life of St Nicholas. Or some other guy.

Also, I bought Umberto Eco's new novel, The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana. Promising book. It's about a guy who has lost all his memories, expect all the information he gained from the numerous books he read. Originally I wanted to buy Palahniuk's Haunted, but then found this, waiting for me on a shelf. They had Palahniuk too, but there were five of 'em, and only one Eco.

Today's other experiences: sometimes no one else shares your opinion, but you can shout at them and make yourself feel great!! You can prove yourself that you are better. Great feeling. Shout it all out. You can shout it all out. Wahh.

The first real Bzzzzz! album is considered half-finished with 11 songs (31.4 min total). And I've made a cover thingie from newspaper cutouts, and I'm rather pleased with it. To be honest, I'm very enthusiastic about this whole thing. The Bzzzzz! project. Knwoing myself I wonder why hasn't it been cancelled so far. I mean... I've been working on it for nearly 3 weeks, constantly. Rare thing. I think it's now a huge part of my life. 47 minutes of done material. Whoa.
Of course, bad bad sad sad that my endurance is limited to a useless project. But... Whatever. I enjoy it. I'm not totally pessimistic about it. That's great.
Takes up a lot of time, though. I spend approx. an hour each day, working on it, producing samplers, sounds, noise, cutting songs, vocoding, synthesizing, etc. Plus one hour before falling asleep spent with making up ideas, plans, possible new stuff, anything.

The album will have loads of great things.
Psychedelic songs. Fuzzy songs. Epic songs. Cover songs. Technoish songs. Downtempo songs. Every-every-everything.

A Dilbert-strip. Just to celebrate my 101st entry in my blog. I forgot to mention, that the previous was numero 1 0 0. Cool, isn't it? I guess the last four or five posts were a bit... music-dominated. Sorry for that. Hey, but they were about great bands and musicians!
I don't want to break this tradition, so this entry will have a link to Bzzzzz!'s new, official site, right here. My EP is ready, so go and download it. It's in the Downloads section. It has six songs. And maybe I'll make a little guide to it. How did I make it, that is. The origin of those sounds might be quite funny, as they are just the same on the songs.

Woo-hoo, today's second entry, with more bands!

Electrolettes - probably band of the day (: Indie-rock with good female vocals and some electric beeps and buzzes.

A bit punkish/stoner-rockish band, Engine Kid. Nothing very special but good stuff.

And probably I'll reach 4000 songs today. I have 3992 now (and counting). When I finish downloading this album by The Cherry Blossoms (indie-rock stuff, but you could have guessed that already from the name), I will have 4001 songs (:

When I was sitting in school, I had at least 3 things in my mind to post in my blog. Now I'm here, scratching my keyboard without the faintest idea, whatsoever. Guess it'll be the usual stuff, you know, bands.

The Spores - electrock, with some popish tunes. I tried it 'cause Molly McGuire sings/plays in it. She played bass for Mondo Generator, performed with QOTSA, Mark Lanegan and so forth. Listened to them on their myspace page. Maybe I'll download some songs, if possible. I'm almost 100% sure they don't have their albums here.
And I have to find some Yellow #5. Dave Catching, Molly McGuire, Brant Bjork.. Mmm. And this leads to another I-am-sure-it-would-be-my-favourite-if-only-I-could-find-an-album band: earthlings?. I've got myself one more song (entitled nothing) from their myspace page which wasn't avaible for download before. Great song.
PJ Harvey - finally bought one of her albums (Uh Huh Her) this summer. Hmm, because she sang duets with Mark Lanegan. Raw sound, a bit like early White Stripes, but with female vocals. I wasn't surprised to see at least 4 or 5 QOTSA-related musicians in the thanks to... list. Good stuff.
Deerhoof - found 'em in this Questionable Content strip. Funny stuff kiddy stuff.
Mindless Self Indulgence - good industrial-punk thingie. Can't define them. Distorted guitar sounds with electronic beats and slapping sounds...

Argh, my head aches. I don't really know why. Uhm. Okay. I know why. Or, at least, I have a very possible answer. Maybe my head aches because it's 00:55 in the morning, I haven't had anything to eat in six hours, and I've spent the night creating noise music on my computer, using a bunch of free vocoders, a MIDI synth-program and Windows voice recorder. It's going quite well, by the way. And I'm having tons of fun with it.
Of course, my limited tools have some disadvantages, my microphone produces more white noise than needed, the MIDI drums don't have perfect rythm, etc, but nothing can spoil my enthusiasm. Music is for everyone; making music is for everyone.
You just have to find the thing even you can make.

It’s been a long time. (It’s been a long time, since you’ve been gone, you know, that Velvet Revolver song. Fall to Pieces, or Falling to Pieces, can’t remember.) Time flies, isn’t it? It flies like one of those spaceships. Whatever. Time flies when you are having fun.
I’m having fun, sorta. That’s why I don’t feel like writing my blog and stuff. But now I have some time and will. Will flies, too. You have will to do something, then in the next moment it disappears. Will is for the weak, reallllly.
It’s quite entertaining, writing pointless and/or meaningless stuff. My back aches a bit. Thise chair is a pain in the… back. Maybe I should write about (or blog about, if such a verb exists) what happened to me in the last two months. Nearly two months.
Nothing.
Just kidding.
Too much to make a list of it or to create a narrative.
Let’s just say: I had some fun. That sums it up. Yeah, I’m satisfied with the time I had spent. Overall. Not with every detail, though. There were (and there are) some moments I wish I hadn’t experienced, but what can you do?
BB gave me some music today. Expanding my collection. Ehh, it’s not that important. Of course, it’s important for me (these noise-aholics. These calm-ophobics. Big Brother isn’t watching. He is singing and dancing and pulling rabbits out of a hat. He is making sure you are always distracted. Towel Day
So, today is Towel Day. Douglas Adams, rest in peace, really. :( Luckily, I wasn't the only one to toss a towel with me all day, but still got some stares and wtf looks.
At least I didn't wear my long coat. It was like... Dunno, 25 *C hot.
Nearly no school at all for us today, so we walked in the city for a while (with towels, of course). We were shopping, yey. Okay, we had no money with us, so simply went into shops, drooled over nice shoes & clothes. And we found an amazing Marten's. I was surprised by the prices, very cheap. Okay, realtively. I tried on a pair of yellow boots, but they didn't have my size. There was crazy stuff, though, huge moon-walker boots, ones with metal-spikes, and the like. Okay, I'm tired. And have to learn russian. Exam's in two days, omg.

And at last, found a piece of code to remove the blogger navbar, and now I can install this new template. I love love love it. It's so... Whoa. So cool. And a new profile photo, which is basically the old one with some photoshopping. Still needs some work on it, though.

Yeah, gotta love Google's ads. You know, the ones they assign to each page, according to the content. Sometimes it gets a bit strange. In this case, as The White Stripes have an album called White Blood Cells, the ads feature blood in urine testings, free drug trials, and that sort of stuff. Only one ad from four is about The White Stripes. Not even about them, btw. Some silly blogs. White Stripes info straight from bloggers, that's what I need.
Artifical intelligence. Okay. Maybe. Whatever. And I'm stupid enough to pay attention to internet ads. Not that I'm clicking any of those, no. Just looking at them, waste my time reading them, looking for funny stuff, like this one.

Dream:
I've been to a QOTSA concert --- in my dream. It was a totally dream-like one, 'cause it featured Nick Olliveri too... Although not for very long... Yeah. They opened up with 'Millionaire'. In the middle of the song, Nick fell to the stage and hurt his head! So the concert was cancelled. I walked out, and found myself in a very big library. I was surrounded by enermous shelves with books. No, that was later. I found myself in a gym class. On one of the wall-bars, Josh Homme was climbing and he sang 'Mosquito Song'. The funny thing in my dreams is that I hear every melody, song, all the lyrics and instruments, as they are on a certain record (it was a live version this time). After this I went (?) to the library. Josh was there, and Mark too, which is a strange thing again. Mark wore a military uniform, maybe from the 19th century. I had a chat with Josh, discussed some things with him. It turned out, that Nick's appearance was a 'special and only once in a lifetime' event, 'cause they still hate each other. I told him, that I loved the Queens the way they were, though they differ from the old. Meanwhile, Nick stood up and went away.
Today's dream also was the sequel of yesterday's: I was in a small village with paralel streets, and I had to do some kind of a patrol. From time to time, I had to walk around and check the streets. Don't know the exact reason, why.
